Invites journalists to participate in the training course on Georgia and NATO Integration, Reality and Challenges
Media for Transparent and Accountable Governance (M-TAG), a USAID supported program by the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX), invites journalists (reporters, correspondents) to participate in the training course on Georgia and NATO Integration, Reality and Challenges
Six week interactive course will be led by Levan Dolidze, former Head of Mission of Georgia to NATO.
12 two-hour sessions for journalists will cover the following issues: Practical and political aspects of NATO-Georgia cooperation; Georgia's NATO integration mechanisms – Annual National Program (ANP), NATO – Georgia commission (NGC) and NATO – Georgia Substantial Package; Georgia’s internal/domestic political challenges and their impact on NATO integration process; Cooperation in the field of defense – Interoperability with Alliance; NATO's eastward enlargement – implications on regional security; NATO – Russia cooperation: reality and the challenges; Georgia's progress on NATO integration path – from Bucharest to the Wales summit and the vision for the Warsaw summit.
During the training course, three guest speakers – experts in subjects discussed, will be invited.
The sessions will be held from April 20 util May 31, 2015. The training course will consist from 24 academic hours. The participants and the lecturer will select week days for sessions to be convened twice week and will agree on start time. Sessions will be conducted in IREX office at the following address: Marjanishvili Str. 6, Tbilisi.
The training course is open for Tbilisi based journalists, who are interested in receiving in-depth knowledge on NATO integration issues and have some experience in preparing materials on this subject.
The participants will be expected to prepare journalistic works on Georgia – NATO relationship.
The training course is organized in the frames of USAID supported M-TAG program implemented by IREX.
The journalists interested in participation in the training course should send their CV and cover letter to the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 6 pm, April 2, 2015.
The cover letter should not exceed one page and should contain information about relevant experience of the applicant (please provide list of materials on Georgia-NATO integration, which you have published and links to them if available). Please explain why you are interested in this training course and how you plan to apply knowledge you will acquire. The number of participants is limited, and applicants will be selected on the basis of provided CVs and cover letters.
Selected applicants will be informed before April 8, 2015.
