April 12 – Solidarity for Media Freedom to Organize Rally
On April 12, at 14:00 hrs media union Solidarity for Media Freedom is going to organize a rally under the slogan ‘Regulators! Regulate, Do not Limit.’ The rally will be held in front of the premises of the Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC).
Venue: 50/18 Bochorme Street, Ketevan Tsamebuli Ave.
The Union members will voice protest against penalty imposed on TV-radio company Trialeti and on the same day will send apetition to the Embassies accredited in Georgia. In addition to Trialeti the petition discusses the issue related to Channel 9 to launch broadcasts in the nearest future. The petition signatories believe that the authorities are intentionally hindering the launch of the TV channel. The Union members cited the damage inflicted to the TV company-owned equipments at the customs service as evidence to the given case.
