May 11 – Regional Media Problems to Be Discussed
On May 11 Tbilisi Marriott Hotel will be hosting the meeting with the representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia, international, domestic non-governmental and media organizations to discuss the problems regional media face in the pre-election period. The meeting is scheduled to start at 13:00 hrs.
Ia Mamaladze, Chairwoman, Regional Media Association will provide a general review of media-related problems and afterwards a documentary on the regional media problems will be shown. At 13:25 the affected journalists will talk about particular cases of pressure; At 13:40 Natoa Kuprashvili, head of Georgian Association of Regional Broadcasters (GARB) will deliver a speech on the problems regional broadcasters face in the pre-election period; At 14:00 Zviad Koridze of the coalition For Freedom of Choice will assess current media environment in the country; At 14:10 Tamar Kordzaia, Executive Director, Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics will discuss the issues related to the legislative regulation of media activities.
