Internet Freedom Discussion –Transparency International Georgia
Tuesday, 5 February, 5 p.m. in the European House will be held (in Georgian language) a discussion on the topic of Internet Freedom.
During the discussion Transparency International Georgia will present a new report:
“Internet Freedom – Who Controls Georgian Telecommunication Sector?”
The report covers the following issues:
- Internet usage statistics in Georgia;
- Supervision of activities conducted in Internet;
- Ownership of telecommunication companies and their accountability to consumers;
- Online media – financial situation of media outlets.
After the presentation of the report will be held a discussion during which representatives of telecommunication companies, government structures and online media outlets will speak about different aspects of the Georgian telecommunication sector.
The event is funded by IREX G-MEDIA Program which is being implanted by support from American people through the US Agency for International Development.
